Competex Pro
Competex Pro joined Creative Pod in January 2021 when we became their full-service outsourced marketing and design agency.
Background
Founded in 2000, Competex is one of the longest-standing contractor accountants in the UK. 22 years on, the Competex group has further evolved, as not only have the rules appertaining to IR35 become more complex but other compliance issues and regulations have also become more stringent.
Competex opened its payroll umbrella company, Competex Pro Limited, in 2017. Competex Pro is suitable for all independent professionals who are required to work via a payroll umbrella company and specialises in looking after those in management and board-level positions.

Situation
The existing brand covered both the accountancy and payroll aspects of the business, and it could often be difficult to differentiate between the two. From our initial briefing, it was apparent that Competex Pro needed a fresh, new look so their brand was up to scratch in the modern market, as well the team wanted a brand that showcased their skills and friendly approach to customers.
New brand
The digital design team at Creative Pod enhanced the existing brand, by introducing a new brand colour and new guidelines, which we implemented across all online and offline channels.
Logo transformation
As you can see from the logo transformation below, we enhanced the original design and introduced a new colour palette, whilst keeping the original layout and the overall feel of the logo intact.
Website design
The brief we received for the website was to make the user experience as friendly and simplified as possible. We decided to enhance the FAQ’s section, to make the service offering crystal clear, and demonstrate the sign up process with simple visuals.
We used a system called ‘Sketch’ to design the site's individual look and feel before providing the customer with a prototype to enable us to conduct our first round of testing before we went into the development phase.
During the development phase, we ensured the site was device responsive, fast-loading, and efficient. The client also needed a section to download documents, and a clear and simple registration form for potential customers to register their interest.
Results and Next Steps
We have been working closely with Competex Pro for five months now and alongside the branding and website design, we have also been managing the marketing activity. We already have several exciting projects and campaigns lined up for 2021, so watch this space for another update!
